A year ago our lives and everyone’s lives changed. Through all the changes, we got a chance to live in nature. This experience has altered my outlook on life, what truly matters and how I want to live the rest of it. I questioned why is it that I always thought that my home was my house or an apartment I was living in, when in reality my true home and only home I have, is this planet- our Mother Earth I knew that I wanted to have my children grow up more grounded, away from big cities, pollution and living a slow life. We made some big changes that allowed our children to spend more time outside, learn outdoors, fish, garden, do daily nature walks and beach clean ups. I see the love, the deep understanding and care they now carry for this planet and it is so humbling. I grew up this way, but living in big cities made me disconnect and forget. Going back to my roots was a journey of remembering and reconnecting and it feels right, it feels like home.

Baby girl words cannot express how thankful I am To you for coming into this world for challenging every single notion and belief inside of me. For flipping our lives upside down, for creating a new purpose in my life, for opening my eyes and teaching me SO much. I remember vividly that night I spent along side you in the hospital, the longest 24 hours of my life and one of the hardest days in my life. Seeing you lying there next to me colorless and vulnerable with a huge needle jabbed into your tiny wrist, tiny specks of dried blood like shards of maroon colored crystals all around the plastic wire streaming from your hand. Your breathing was heavy and slow, your eyes closed. I could feel your heart beat though, on my chest right next to mine. Keep feeding her, keep feeding her I kept thinking to myself and how grateful I was to my body to produce sustenance for her, just right for her right there and then. I felt the world around me was at stand still. The mute clock on the wall moving so slow and reminding me of the minutes, hours, I still had to spend here. I still remember the feeling of fear crawling down my spine making its way through my veins right into my heart, crippling me, shaking me to the core. I remember I gave into the fear then, and let it take control of me. What I didn’t know then is that every emotion, every feeling, every tremble of my heart she was feeling too. It’s like that with children, they are inherently intuitive beings they are capable of so much we don’t give them credit for. I remember feeling angry at myself and sad, that I have failed this little baby who was my responsibility. The clock again, and the minutes that seemed to stretch as long as hours and the Starck, bright blue light of the hospital room. I felt I was suffocating like there was not enough air for my lungs to grasp. Maybe it was a panic attack coming on.....continued in comments

“Human beings are not meant to live like this.. We are meant to live in loving communities, be around nature every day, grow our own food, create art and not work day and night until we die. This longing for another life is not human nature, it’s a product of modern society...” wisdom via someone else, but so much resonates.

Today, two years ago, I became a mama for the third time. I birthed my daughter Bella by myself, in a moving car, on my way to the hospital. It was unexpected, but it was perfect! It happened the way it was supposed to happen. I lost my mom Bella in a car accident, and my daughter came into this world in a car. Something magical about that.... I know you came into this world with a deep purpose...You changed me to the core, you challenged me, you made me better, you make me want to be better everyday. Happy birthday my angel baby. I want you to be happy, healthy and joyful every day of your life. While I spend my entire life dedicated to protecting you and your brothers.

Abundance has already included you. What if you began your every morning remembering that abundance has already included you? We set limitations on ourselves all the time and that sort of thinking is like unconscious self sabotage. Let’s hold space for good health, love and purpose you possess right now. Abundance has already included you. Lets not be grasping, pushing, dreaming and manifesting for this to arrive... rather let’s know that it is already here. Feel in your body and in your bones what it means to be appreciative, to be joyful, to be grateful. Those feelings are a reminder that we can feel the abundance at anytime of our own free will. It does not take something magnificent outside of ourselves to feel appreciative. Abundance has already included you, we are not alone, and we always have an opportunity to align with our highest self. It is already at work within. Wise words from @aaptiv

No matter what our family situation or lifestyle, we are our children’s first teacher. By understanding how children develop and some things we can do to help their balanced and healthy growth - physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually - we will not only help our children, but also increase our own enjoyment and growth as parents - Rahima Baldwin

Gratitude and contentment is about being present with what is, verses cultivating a sense of lack in your life. The grass is always greener where you water it, this thought process of always looking outward keeps us in comparison and in disappointment and often blinded by the beauty we can experience in the here and now. A reminder that when struggles arise in us we build contentment with these uncomfortable places so that our foundation and our roots ground us deeper to source. We can hold an unshakable calm, that part of you that connects to source is all knowing and all providing that we are content and grateful in this moment and in every moment. Feeling centered comes from source and our source is contentment. Remember everything is neutral it is our labeling that makes the thing tolerable or intolerable whether we attach to an outcome, a perception, or an emotion we can always shift the way we see things and that is a gift- the ability to change ones mind is a gift. I am grateful and content now and always, I am grateful and thankful for all of you. Wisdom via one of my favorite meditations on @aaptiv

I love making lattes and drinks using coconut milk but I struggle to find store bought brands that are truly clean. They either contain non organic coconuts, have gums, citric acid, preservatives or sugar. So this is the first time I’ve tried to make my own and it’s been amazing! The key is to try and get coconuts that are young and as fresh as possible, the pulp that’s left over is good to use when baking muffins cookies or use when making granola. Ingredients 1 - 2 cups 4 cups of water Pinch of salt Cheese cloth Instructions 1. Heat water until warm 2. Blend coconut in mixer and add water and salt 3. Blend coconut and water together until creamy 4. Put all ingredients in cheese cloth and hold over a large bowl, wrap and squeeze over the bowl to make the coconut milk 5. Once done store in the refrigerator for upto 3-4 days Tip - no preservatives or fillers are in this milk so you will see the milk separate simply shake before using again :)

2020 has challenged every aspect of life, it has truly tested us, pushed us to the limit and brought on changes we did not think we were ready for. This past year also taught us so much about things we took for granted and things we have forgotten. 2020 taught me a lot about myself, it helped me rediscover who I am as a person and what it is that I want in life for myself and my family. It made me question everything and taught me to not compromise on things that truly matter. It has given me a deeper appreciation for the people who bring so much joy and kindness into my life and shifted my focus on only the things that actually matter. As a result I understand now how important time is, without time we have nothing. Today I put time with my beautiful family above everything else and practice gratitude for the little things. I encourage you to take a moment to reflect, to appreciate all the challenges and the hardships and to look for positive in the toughest and most trying of times, because ultimately these were the moments that helped us grow, evolve and transform. These moments of raw vulnerability are the ones that shape and shift us. So let’s move into the new year with all of our new found wisdom and learnings and turn it into a new positive reality all around us. @angilalourie

Acknowledging the good that you have in your life is the foundation of all abundance. Becoming aware that every moment is a given moment, it is a gift, you haven’t earned it, or worked for it, it is not owed to you by any means, so live for this moment and appreciate all the small things, take the time to show gratitude for what you already have around you, it’s truly gratitude that makes us happy and that turns what we have now into enough. Be grateful for every second of everyday that you get to spend with the people you love. Life is so very precious. And above all - “Be kind whenever possible. it is always possible” Dalai Lama

My beautiful daughter You are blessed with eyes which are made to see the good in the world – not only in other people and your surroundings – but in yourself. Your mouth, was given to you to speak words of truth and kindness and your whole body to carry you through the amazing journey, it is a beautiful vessel so love it for all that it is and all that it does for you, don’t waste a minute being at war. Throughout life, there will be people and situations that will hurt you. There will be tough times and heart breaks and moments when you will feel unsure, unsafe and down. Remember that friends come and go. But no matter what, know that you are always loved. Know that you are on this earth for a purpose. It’s your job to rise above adversity and be the remarkable woman that we already know you are going to be. You can do anything you put your mind to, you were made for incredible things in this life so don’t waste it playing small. You are growing up in a very different world now, so please know your self worth is not based on how many likes you get on a photo or how many people choose to follow you, but above all stay true to yourself always! Love, Your mama

Childhood is not a time for enforced conformity but a time for freedom to learn and explore their interests at their own pace. Our kids have a pretty good idea of how they need to learn. We need only watch and follow their lead. By giving our children an individualized education, we can move as quickly or as slowly through a subject as our children need. We can take time understanding their learning styles and passions. So what I love about homeschooling is the fact that it’s such an individualized approach, it doesn’t put a child in a fit- for- all box. That is something that I am very familiar with, growing up in Soviet Russia in a traditional classroom. I remember how much I disliked school, but how much I loved learning. Instruction in a traditional classroom requires our children to memorize facts and information. It comes from the outside in. Learning, on the other hand, is applying knowledge to their life in meaningful, life-changing ways. It happens from the inside out. Learning can happen anywhere and can be a rich experience when applied outdoors and incorporates nature. A child can be excited about learning and not be ground down by a full day of classes, test taking, and then homework at night. If you can preserve your children’s love of learning, you’ve given them everything. @wildandfree.co

I know how hard it is to let go of your favorite make up! It took me ages to finally switch to clean make up. The catalyst for me was learning about how much toxic chemicals are actually in products we use on our faces and bodies daily. And just because a company states that it’s naturally derived or natural it doesn’t mean it actually is. You have to do your own research and always read the ingredient list. The majority of the 3,000 high production chemicals that are in your everyday products do not undergo even minimal assessment for safety or potential toxicity, only 20% of high production chemicals are tested for there effects and the EPA has also identified 3,000 synthetic chemicals as high production chemicals, these high production chemicals are imported in quantities of more than a million pounds per year, these chemicals today are found in the air our food and drinking water around the world. A start to living a non toxic life would be to make a commitment to find and get rid of all products in your home that say fragrance on the ingredients label, even your favorite smelling candle or your favorite brow pencil can contain up to 60,000 harmful chemicals that can cause not only hormonal disruption in our bodies but also cancer. Anytime you are buying a product turn it over and go over the ingredient list! Do not buy anything that says perfume or fragrance! There is so much green washing on the market these are companies claiming to be clean and non toxic when in fact they are not! What I do is use ewg.com/skindeep and I enter every single ingredient into the search box and check it’s rating, If it rates above 2 I would not use it in my home on my skin or on my children. The best place for you to start if you are unsure is @thetot We test every single ingredient before we sell, so you can rest assured that we curated all our personal care items to be safe for you.

Scientists used to think that the human brain did not become functional until after birth and assumed that fetuses and infants had no memory and felt no pain. However, psychologists and neuroscientists are demonstrating that babies are not simple beings but complex and ageless small creatures with unexpectedly large thoughts. Infants have a pre- birth life in the womb that profoundly influences their long- term health and behavior. Today we have more and more evidence showing that the programming we receive while in the womb has lifetime effects on how we perform mentally or physically during our lifetime, more so than our genes. This programming we receive before we are even born programs our susceptibility to coronary artery disease, strike, diabetes, obesity, and a multitude of other conditions. Recently, an even wider range of adult - related chronic disorders, including osteoporosis, mood disorders, psychoses, have been intimately linked to pre- and perinatal developmental influences. So understanding that the programming starts when we are still in the womb and can have profound effects on our lives is so important. With each of my pregnancies I was very conscious of this, I knew I had an invisible connection with my babies. I spoke to them daily, I told them I love them and I tried to keep my mind calm as much as I could. I manifested and felt an incredibly deep connection with each one of my babies during pregnancy. I spoke to my babies even about the characters and personality traits I wanted them to be born with, and it blows my mind to say that they were born exactly the way I manifested them. I feel knowing that it’s not our genes that control our destiny and that parents can improve the prenatal environment for their children makes us the genetic engineers. This influence we as parents can continue throughout our children’s life by controlling their environment. New Research is emphasizing the importance of good nurturing parenting in the development of the brain and influencing the quality of life for our children and their children.

MAKING time rather than FINDING time to look after myself is something I have been heavily focusing on this year. Self love for me: - Self love means switching off my phone - Self love means saying no commitments that do not serve me - Self love means working out when sometimes I don’t feel like it - Self love is being disciplined - Self love is nourishing my body inside and out - Self love is positive self talk It doesn’t always have to be about eating the bad food and binge watching tv shows. I know that I am a better mother, wife and friend when I take proper care of myself mentally and physically so please don’t treat yourself as a second thought and NEVER feel guilty for looking after yourself first.

Time in nature. Time for childhood. Time for exploration. Time to learn at their own pace. And time to pursue their own interests What if we stopped treating children like robots, capable only of inputting and outputting information, and instead treated them like human beings consisting of beautiful dreams, diverse intelligence, and natural talents? Our role would be more like gardening than aggregating. Our children are gifts to treasure, not trophies to display. Wisdom via @wildandfree.co

When I was pregnant for the first time I believed tht my love and mama intuition were all that I needed to be a good mom.I believed that if I followed my intuition n listened to my baby I would know what to do. But when my baby was born I struggled with breastfeeding, the sleepless nights, the cracked nipples and the constant pumping. My mind was blurry, my thoughts irrational and my hormones heightened. I started listening to “advice“ of others telling me tht my baby should sleep through the night on his own, have a schedule, n eat every 3 hours. I felt I needed to be taking my 6mo old to development classes for focus, download the latest apps from “play wisely“ n practice Glen Doman early learning method, so that my child can walk before he’s 1, read by the age of 3, n solve puzzles. I remember reading all the baby books, from Ibuka to Gina Ford. Some of these books suggested the “cry it out method” for fostering independence in children, others said I should expose him early to anything from sports to academics to music, others proposed tht children should conform to their parents’ schedule n not the other way around. I remember letting these voices get to me and loosing my confidence. I still remember that one night I tried the “cry it out method”. I did it because I felt that in order to be a good mom I must get my baby to sleep through the night. I did it because of inexperience and self doubt. I still remember sitting on the floor outside my baby’s room that night, sobbing while he cried hysterically, helplessly calling my name and needing my touch, my love, and the sound of my heartbeat. I was doing everything my intuition was telling me NOT to, but I felt I had to because the society, the experts, the books told me to. I broke down that night, I went to my baby and swore off the experts and the books. I held my baby at my chest, I breastfed him as much as he wanted to, I kissed him, I comforted him n let him sleep cuddled up close to my heart, so close we melted into a perfect and inseparable bond, just like it used to feel when he lived inside of my womb. Today I proudly tandem feed my 18 months old and my 3.5 year old. Today I embrace who I am...

My sweet big boy turned 6. I remember just like it was yesterday carrying you in my womb. I remember how i was counting days until I got to meet you. I remember how you came into this world on red moon, the beautiful soul you are. You are the light of my life. I hope you grow up to be as happy, creative, thoughtful, caring and kind as you are today. I hope you never loose your wonder and your curiosity for learning. I hope you never stop telling me stories about your day or what makes things work. I hope we can read books, cook, do nature walks, snorkel in the blue sea, dream about our travels, look at the night sky, talk about space travel and ancient Egypt, tell true stories, and pray every night together always and forever. I hope that you will “stay my little baby forever”, just like you promised me today. It’s with tears of joy in my eyes that I watch you grow a year older today. But my heart is full with gratitude to be by your side on your incredible journey of life. I will love you always my first born.

Today I took my boys on a nature walk. We talked about how abundant our world is n all the beautiful gifts nature offers us. We picked fresh figs n ate them right off the tree. I could see their little faces light up when I told them “true stories “about my childhood picking figs on my summer holidays. We talked a lot n they walked away learning so much more from this real life experience than they ever would from any book in the world! When it comes to our kids education we want to give them the best.Yet driven by our own fears of not doing enough, we r eager to chase any opportunity 4 our children get into the best pre-school, best private school,be the first to read,be top chess player,be able to code, skip a grade, all whilst being a virtuoso pianist. We search 4 best new apps or curriculum thats going to make our child be smarter n make us feel proud as parents. As a society we transitioned to think that we must start our kids early n expose them 2 everything we can in an effort to help them succeed. They r in extracurricular activities, sports leagues, private tutors or sports coaches, “gifted”classes and their schedules are as busy as their parents. We have become so obsessed with “success”we forgot what is truly important. We forgot that WE are our kids best teachers because we lead by example. We r the ones to inspire them, teach them right from wrong, n navigate them through real world. We forgot that our kids need time with us more than the motor development class at 6mo, or that they will gain much more from a natural learning environment than sitting at a desk with a tutor. So why are we hijacking our kids childhood, filling it with after school activities? “Our children’s happiness is not about having the best toys, gadgets, and vacations. It’s about simplicity. A magical childhood is about freedom to explore, discover, n play.Let’s take them out to rivers, forests, mountains n oceans.Let them daydream for hours. Let them experience boredom n, give them a fertile seedbed for imagination, play, n wonder. Let’s let them swim in creeks, run in fields, get dirty, stay up late to see the stars, n catch bullfrogs with their bare hands @wildandfree.co

After my digital detox and a real step away from social media and my phone in general, I wanted to share my feedback with you all and explain what urged me to take this step. We all know that we are living in the age of behavioral addiction—an age in which almost half of the developed population is addicted to at least one behavior, We spend an average of 5.7 hours each day using our phones, Millennial kids spend so much time in front of screens that they struggle to interact with real, live humans. What I learned through my own experience is that social media has become a manipulation of human behavior for profit, this behavior threatens to undermine our mental health and relationships. My intention going forward Is to be meaningful and educational with all my social media activity. My own personal experience has been that every time I would use Instagram with the feeling of being intentional and not slipping into meaningless scrolling, I would loose control, I would spend hours in front of my phone and leave feeling drained, I felt like I either wasn’t good enough or was missing out on what other people were doing. These are all negative emotions that I really do not want in my life. Now coming back, I made a promise to myself that I will not be scrolling. I will not go on the “ suggestions page”, I will not take time to answer every message. I will post but with purpose, in hopes to bring something positive to you all. I will unfollow accounts that do not benefit me, I will do black out days where I put my phone away. Since I use Instagram as a tool to stay in touch with friends and family, I will set hard lines for how much time I spend on posting or watching stories. I will make time to do Q & A’s to stay connected with you all and hopefully add value to people’s lives. I do feel there are so many beneficial things that social media offers like connecting to family and friends, learning, growing and being inspired by people doing absolutely incredible things. I urge you to be more intentional with your time, slow down and enjoy life in the present, not just behind the screen. And... Put your phone down.

Higher vibrations let’s talk about it - the higher the frequency of your energy and vibration the lighter you feel physically emotionally and mentally, your life flows synchronicity, and you manifest what you desire with ease when vibrating on a high level. Start incorporating practices into your everyday routine which you know you are going to get positivity out of, simple but very affective activities are things such as meditation / movement / self love / spreading kindness / being with nature, positive routine brings you a sense of accomplishment which in turn brings you higher vibration. Also being so conscious of your thoughts everything you think say or feel becomes your reality that’s why meditation is so important in an everyday routine, over time the practice of meditation can completely change the way your brain functions, Changing the way you think, feel, speak and act can change your whole world. Higher vibration means to perceive or receive the reality in which you desire, you must be in vibrational harmony with that which you desire that means our thoughts, emotions, words and actions must align with what we want and in order to begin this process it’s detrimental to have a purposeful daily routine in place to ensure we are fulfilling these needs #wakeupwiththesun#dailyroutines#hiking#sustainabilityalways#port#activewear#portdebras#activewear

Maintenance of our daily sleep and hormonal cycle known as circadian rhythm is absolutely essential for proper biological functioning, and disruption of our sleep patterns is tied to nearly every modern chronic disease. Sleep is when we repair our mitochondria. The most common cause of poor sleep, is excessive artificial light exposure at night. Since 1879, we have been using fluorescent bulbs, LED’s, and screen devices that r enriched with blue-light wavelengths. This type of light causes our body to produce more stress hormones tricks our brain into thinking its daytime when it’s not, and keeps us more energetic and alert. This comes with a significant cost of disrupting our body’s timekeeping mechanisms and preventing natural secretion of melatonin; the body’s primary anti-oxidant and defense against aging and disease. Exposure to these blue light frequencies after sunset prevents our brain from calming down, secreting melatonin, and getting ready for optimal sleep. Artificial light creates a chronic stress response in our brain and chronic increased secretion of cortisol throughout the day if we're sitting in an office or on a screen. As a child I grew up playing outdoors most of the day, but our children spend most of their days indoors with exposure to toxic modern lighting. This is terrifying considering that it’s the most crucial years of their neural wiring, which will affect them for the rest of their lives. Light is quite literally our life. It’s important to set our circadian rhythm by going outside and watching sunrise and sunset. As the sun rises, there's an increase in blue and in the ultraviolet light spectrum which stimulates the production of all kinds of key hormones through our hypothalamus directly through our eyes. Our metabolic function is a piece of the circadian rhythm, so our metabolism is most active in the middle of the day, whereas it's less active in the later hours. After the sun sets and our brain registers this through our eyes, we begin secreting melatonin. And melatonin is a molecule that is literally repairing our mitochondrial DNA, keeping our levels of mitochondrial oxidative damage down and keeping us younger.
