Y’all we made it home to Nashville. A few days earlier than planned. On the way back , we stopped in Greensboro, GA to have a few restful days at Lake Oconee. I actually picked that spot for an overnight because it mapped perfectly for our trip but when we got there I didn’t want to leave. We stayed an extra day because it was so beautiful. (And we ran out of clothes & needed to do laundry) I had to work too, so why not have a view while you zoom? I have a feeling we will be back there in the summertime to enjoy the lake and the friendly people. We were looking for a dinner spot and we saw that there was a @ritzcarlton about 10 minutes from the KOA. 🤠 We ate dinner and made some new friends from Orlando. (Yes we hung out at the ritz and slept in our trailer because GLAMP life is the good life). That lake is a secret I didn’t know about dang it! . Unfortunately on the way home going through Atlanta, an ass hole in a small car with temp plates was driving erratically and tried to squeeze between us and an semi truck going 70 on I-20 W. It hit the airstream on the passenger side and sent us into the left lane. We fishtailed pretty good but got on the shoulder as quickly as possible to assess the damage. Nobody was hurt thank the good Lord. But nobody stopped either and the car sped away. (Cool Bro) We are so thankful that nothing worse happened. Our vehicle and trailer were driveable so we made a report and hauled home. I called mama right away to say that I know her prayers are always heard cause I know she prays for us every morning about 4:30 am. Especially when we are on the road. And @brendanjmcloughlin kept our trailer pretty steady for being side swiped. Thanks to @airstream_inc and @southland_rv, we are gonna be repaired and back to our vagabond ways soon. Dreamy Charleston, SC I miss you already. There is too much to say about this place for one post but here are some highlights. @hallschophouse thank you for the warm welcome back and for most delicious Sunday brunch and Gospel music. @harkencafe was the sweetest little place for breakfast. Spiced vanilla latte with oat milk and avocado toast for the win. You could spend days in this town just looking at the beautiful historic homes and churches and the art galleries. We booked a half day tour with @toursbylocals and we picked Joyce Wier as our guide. She was fun, charismatic and super knowledgeable about the history of Charleston. I learned so much. The gardens at Middleton Place were beautiful. We also loved the KOA Holiday /Mt. Pleasant. The best part was the “alligators may live here” sign! . I could go on and on about this town and 3 days this time around wasn’t nearly enough. I can’t wait to go back. Hey y’all , we’re back out on the road with “The Sheriff”. First stop was Asheville NC. My first time there and this was night one sleeping under the Wolf moon at the KOA. It was pretty magical. We visited The Builtmore Estate. It was absolutely stunning. You can feel the history and heart that was put into that property as soon as you step foot on the grounds. The details in the architecture and the beautiful conservatory full of blooms took my breath away. I bought a Bon Bon from the confectionary (the birthday cake one ) and ate it on the terrace. I just wanted to say I ate a Bon Bon at the Builtmore. Fancy like. Another fave was The Moose Cafe where they serve warm biscuits the size of my whole face with homemade apple butter and we had the sweetest waitress. The Curate tapas bar was delish and The Red Stag Grill had the coolest vibes and a great cocktails called “quarantine fatigue”. Amen! One last thing.... we have the pups along on this trip and Delta Dawn pulled her back out so I wanna say a big thank you nice people at MedVet Asheville for taking such good care of her .
