A former award-winning executive producer at Funny Or Die, Sheehan’s mission to increase voter participation began in 2016 where he used digital videos to help register 50,000 new voters as executive director of Joss Whedon’s Save the Day PAC. In 2018 he founded OMG WTF (Ohio, Michigan, Georgia, Wisconsin, Texas, Florida) to teach voters about executive races during the midterm elections. That project generated Gerrymander Jewelry—a finalist for Fast Company's World Changing Ideas 2019—and now OMG WTF Does the Constitution Actually Say?, an essential primer on how our government was designed to work. Using clear commentary and graphics, Sheehan has annotated the entire Constitution, from its preamble through the amendments, explaining the document’s provisions, pointing out its loopholes, and giving readers everything they need to know to become informed, effective voters. A Spanish version is also available, as well as the companion journal OMG WTF Is Gerrymandering? A Journal for Concerned Citizens. Originally from Washington, D.C., Sheehan graduated magna cum laude from Emory University with a B.A. in American Studies and Political Science and holds an M.A. from New York University in Music Business. In 2018 he was named one of the entertainment industry’s “NextGen: 35 Rising Executives Under 35” by The Hollywood Reporter. The digital videos he’s been involved with have received over a billion views.

John Kim @theangrytherapist author of “I Used to be a Miserable F*ck”, started a blog called The Angry Therapist as part of his rebirth post divorce ten years ago. He quickly built a devoted following of fans who loved the frank and authentic insights that he freely shared on social media.  He pulled the curtain back and showed himself by practicing transparency and sharing his story, something therapists are taught NOT to do.  Kim became known as an unconventional therapist who worked outside the box by seeing clients at coffee shops, on hikes, and in gyms.  He quickly built a coaching team of his own and launched a sister company called JRNI, creating a new way to help people help people.  He is now changing the way we change by sending daily texts, running virtual live wellness classes in the TAT LAB, and just launched Twirl - a new type of non swiping dating app to making dating a human experience again.

This talk was incredible. Can’t thank Richie enough for his work and his time — Freed from prison in 2018, @richiereseda is a producer and abolitionist-feminist organizer. He founded Question Culture, a social-impact record label; Success Stories, a transformational feminist program for incarcerated men chronicled in the CNN documentary "The Feminist on Cell Block Y;" and cofounded Initiate Justice, which organizes people directly impacted by mass incarceration to change laws to end it. He works closely with Black Lives Matter, Inspire Justice and more, to transform narratives and upend systems of oppression.

Happy birthday to my homesick warrior sister. Thank you for fighting with and for me. Thank you for making dumb but poignant art with me. Thank you for being a voice for the underrepresented and unheard. Thank you for being so fucking loving and patient with me. I want nothing more than to throw you on a plane to France where you look at pretty people and feel peace over the water. I want to invade your personal space, hugging you til you shove my face away. I want you to laugh louder than ever (which is really asking a lot) and feel joy in your bones. I wish we could pretend everything isn’t what it actually is just for today. Enjoy today my dearest wunderkind weirdo. Love you forever.

Trigger warning: violence. Yesterday in Portland, Moms against police brutality linked arms chanting “leave our kids alone” and “feds stay clear, moms are here.” They got shot with tear gas. Photo credit: Lindsey Smith @LindseyPSmith7 on Twitter

Hoping this will address the people in my comments who say cops kill white people too. Or Black cops hurt white people. Or all the other ways they’re defending a giant system built on racism that disproportionately kills and imprisons Black people. Check your math. repost from @DopeBlackness

Dear white people, for those that don’t know Juneteeth is a way for Black people to celebrate their own liberation, and the ways that they have always fought for themselves. It commemorates the end of enslavement on June 19th, 1865 when the last enslaved Black person was freed… 2.5 years after the emancipation proclamation… but some dickhead enslavers refused to pass that information on to the people they held captive so they could get more free harvest labor. Isn’t it sick the depths to which white supremacy in capitalism will go to protect profit… It’s not celebrated on the day of the Emancipation Proclamation because as @FreckledWhileBlack said, “the idea behind this is that our liberation is bounded by one another.” And it’s important to acknowledge that Black people were tricked into years of free work. There is a national push to make Juneteenth a national holiday, and a paid day off because Black people haven’t had a holiday that really celebrates their history of a revolution. Juneteenth is specific to the ending of slavery, which is super important because we’re now having more and more conversations about how slavery never really ended it evolved. That fight, the abolitionist movement, is not over.

Today is #BreonnaTaylor’s birthday. She would have been 27 but she was killed by police who entered her house without knocking and shot her in her bed. Here’s what I’m asking you to do: SIGN the petition (LINK IN BIO) and #SayHerName share her image and hashtag. The petition is working towards 4 things. 1) Charge the cops involved immediately. It’s been three months. Unacceptable. 2) Her family must be paid in damages for wrongful death and the negligence of the LMPD. 3) Kentucky Governor has got to speak up and appoint a special prosecutor to investigate the Louisville PD immediately. No in-house investigation. 4) get rid of the “no-knock" warrant that police had used in Breonna's murder. It’s unconstitutional and fuckin dangerous. #BirthdayforBreonna

Protesting, calling, emailing officials, amplifying black voices, showing up, phone banking, contributing to Black-led organizations, the decade of #BlackLivesMatter activism, it’s doing something. The needle is moving. Still a long way to go but now they’re listening. Also, happy to share this information for your pickle dick problem.

I don’t understand this one. If you support Black Lives Matter be vocal and persistent about it. This is definitely not a time to talk about anything else- so if #blackouttuesday means you’re committing to only post about issues that support the movement, great! Use every ounce of clout you have amplify Black voices and get people to vote. If you’ve already vowed to be silent, then consider using your time productively.

We have to do a few things. LIKE NOW. - Repost from @weinspirejustice to white people in response to the murders of #GeorgeFloyd #BreonnaTaylor #AhmaudArbery - It is critical that white people actively participate in the Black liberation movement to dismantle white supremacist structures that violate the lives and safety of Black folx from Minnesota to Kentucky to Georgia to New York City. - ACTION STEPS: 1. Call Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and tell him to cut the police budget. (612) 673-2100 2. Donate to @blackvisionscollective - an organization on the ground in Minneapolis shaping local demands and building a long-haul political home for Black folx in MN 3. Register for “Showing Up for Racial Justice: A Call to Action for White Folks” - a webinar brought to you by @showingupforracialjustice on Friday 5/31 @ 8pm ET 4. Take action in your local community by signing up for @showingupforracialjustice’s national call for more info 5. Sign up to phone bank white voters on 6/4. The head of Minneapolis Police Union sells “Cops for Trump” shirts and is a prominent supporter of the current administration. Let’s make sure white voters don’t re-elect Trump. 6. Read “5 Ways White People Can Take Action in Response to White and State-Sanctioned Violence,” share, and encourage others to take action with you. Systems of power rely on keeping white people silent and separate from the fight for justice to operate. The movement needs your voices, and if you have never taken action, now is a great time to start. The resources provided here and on @showingupforracialjustice’s page will give you the tools you need to show up and mobilize others to do the same. Enough of the thoughts and prayers. Give us solidarity and action.
