The underwhelming presence and action of law enforcement today was a representation of the White supremacy that will never allow our Black communities to be free. Let’s not avoid the reality that we all know would have transpired had these been Black folks. Our movement is one born of love and a vision of Black liberation. Those who call it violent are the same ones storming the Capitol today. BLM has never called for violence, nor will we today. What we do call for is this: End white supremacy. Protect Black communities. Build a democracy that serves all of us, not a select few. We’re in it for the long haul.

As the dust settles from the weekend, a reminder the work isn’t over. We can’t go on vacation (and I promise this very vacation-like photo is from a while ago). There are two senate runoffs for Georgia in January, so we still have a chance to flip the senate. New voters in Georgia have until December 7th to register to vote, and I want to shout out a few BIPOC led groups that have been doing the work in Georgia for a while to help fight voter suppression: @fairfightaction, @newgeorgiaproject and @blackvotersmtr. If you’re looking for places to donate or volunteer, those are great choices. Let me know others in the comments!
