This is how I put Oliver to sleep every second night. I go through a soothing bathtime routine with him and at the end of it all, he always falls asleep. A great tip that I got from a few of you was to place a warm wet washcloth on his tummy and give him a pacifier while I bathed him. The best advice I've had, so thank you! He also does occasionally get cradle cap on his head, which I brush his scalp with a baby brush and the @rococobodyoil. Then after the bath, I give him a baby massage on the face and the body — this sends him straight to sleep. #9weeksold #newborn #mumlife #bathtime

Postpartum feelings . Yesterday we went out for brunch and Oliver would not stop crying, turned out he needed to get out a massive burp. But he’d worked himself up so much that he couldn’t stop crying, and I became so upset and flustered seeing him upset. I tried everything, changing his nappy, giving him my boob, giving him a pacifier, rocking him, laying him on his side, shhhh him, and nothing seemed to be working. In the end, I just cradled him in my arms all teary eyed, closed my eyes and went back to my yoga breathwork, the Ujayi breath which is what I did through my whole 44 hours of labour to calm my mind and body. After a couple of minutes, he stopped crying. It’s like he knew or remembered what it was. 8 weeks postpartum! I feel like the past week lots of things have changed with my body. I was shocked to get my periods back even though I'm breastfeeding 90 percent of the time, my night sweats have returned after disappearing at week 6, and my milk flow seems to have slowed right downnnnn this week — probably because Oliver has been up so much during the nights fussing . But my OBGYN assures me that my periods and night sweats are normal with my ongoing hormonal changes. Love to know if anyone else has experienced this? Was hoping my periods wouldn’t come back for another 5 months at least #8weekspostpartum #mumlife #8weeksold

This is my first official yoga workout in 7 months and I’m so impressed at how much strength I still had, yet so little flexibility. I think the last time I attempted a chaturanga (low push-up), I fell flat on my face or my baby bump got in the way. My birth story — 44 hours of labour that turned into pure happiness. Tap the link in my bio to read the FULL version of my birth experience. It’s taken me almost two months to write this because tears form every time I start to try and type. Growing Oliver was one of the most incredible, beautiful experiences of my life, but no one could have prepared me for what was about to happen. I was so disappointed that my body hadn’t naturally gone into labor even after everything I’d been doing and the 5 rounds of inductions I went through, I’d felt like a failure already, disappointed that I wasn’t doing enough for mother nature to do her thing. I want to reassure mums that in the end, you can’t control the situation. Whatever happens, is best for the baby. It is not your fault if plans change. Your baby’s safety is of the upmost importance. We sacrifice our bodies to become beautiful vessels for the beings that become our entire hearts. A non-stressed baby is E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G, and in the end, you do what you have to do to get them out. I would have done anything to have him in my arms, skin to skin. Breaks my heart when I see him crying and fussing in pain from reflux and gas — I just want to make his pain go away. The paediatrician recommended I keep him upright for 15-30 mins after each feed. I’m doing this but it still doesn’t seem to be helping him. She also recommended probiotic drops. Has anyone heard of the @peanut app? I’ve just started using it and it’s been a life saver. As a first time mum going through the 4th trimester without any family support on the ground here (they’re all in Australia), navigating the motherhood space has been incredibly daunting and a little lonely for me. You’ve probably seen me shedding a tear or two on my Instagram stories talking of my difficulties. Babies don’t come with a manual, but the @peanut app has been an incredible support for me to meet other like-minded mums (who I’ve already met up with for coffee), chat and get advice about my experiences. The more I eat and drink — the more milk flows 🥛 I have to say that since I’ve upped my water intake (2-3 litres per day) and begun to eat more nutritious meals with LOTS of good fats (advice from my Paediatrician last week) my milk flow has been AH-MAZING . Every woman is different to what works for them, and this is definitely working for ME. Other key factors that have been beneficial has been pumping in between, snacking on lactation cookies, sipping on lactation teas and taking daily multivitamin supplements. In the beginning it was so hard for me to make milk, I didn’t have an appetite, probably because I was so sleep deprived all the time, and... I’d always forget to drink water. I just had my 6-week C-section checkup with my OBGYN and she said I look great and that I'm all cleared to lift and exercise again . Update: the numbness and itching from when she cut through my layers has finally disappeared, I do feel an internal little sting every now and then, and I've also gained a soft little shelf above the scar that sits below my bikini line— my doctor says its scar tissue and will eventually flatten out over the next 6-12 months, but to be honest I'm not fussed about it. This week I've started out with some gentle hiking, and next week I'll practice some soft @aloyoga flows, which I'll upload to my Instagram so you can see my progress of building up my core strength again. #postpartum #csectionrecovery #6weekspostpartum #hiking #csection #mumlife #momlife

We finally made it 15 mins down the road . Oliver and I went and surprised dad at work today even though we were over an hour late . I never knew how HARD it was to juggle getting ready with Oliver crying in my arms while at the same time saving his Soothie pacifier that kept falling out every 2 mins, getting him ready, breastfed and clean — was quite the task . The Fourth Trimester! I wanted to share that if it wasn’t for my husband, I’m quite sure I would be well on my way spiralling into post-partum depression. Those sleepless nights he fed and slept with Oliver while he let me sleep and recover in the other room, those mini day trips he took us on to bring a smile to my face, the little text messages he would send saying how Oliver’s lucky to have me as a mum to brighten up my day — he has been my rock while we’ve both supported and cared for Oliver. And now I can’t imagine a life without the two of them — my mini family. I wanted to share how vitally important SUPPORT can be when mothers are transitioning and struggling through the first few months following childbirth. After a rude share car ride experience (no support from the driver even though he saw me struggling with collapsing/ opening the pram and strapping the car seat in, he then didn’t even get out of his drivers seat to help me lift or take the pram out of the boot — so rude!)! Anyway we’re finally at the paediatrician for his checkup and my heart is melting . Our little 5 week old and 10.6 pound boy is healthy and growing well. PUMPING on-the-go! Getting real here. I express, I breastfeed and YES sometimes... I use formula (when I’m empty and Oliver is still hungry) — no shame here . Every woman has their own journey, and as you know breastfeeding for me has not been an easy experience. I’ve had plenty of advice from Oliver’s pediatrician, fellow mammas (like you all via DM’s), and a lactation consultant, and you know what, every bit of information I’ve been given to date has been SOOO helpful, so thank YOU! However, the most helpful piece of advice from my lactation consultant has been to express/ pump in between and at the end of my feeding to up my milk supply and to empty out my breasts. Wherever I am, back of the car, on the lounge, in a quiet area, I’ll express with a portable breast pump. FYI Mammas, @nukaustralia do a great easy-to-use pump with a shoulder strap and rechargeable battery . This is me one month postpartum C section! I’ve still got two more weeks of recovery to go till I can actually get back into my yoga and work on my core again . My belly band has been amazing for my mid section support and I can’t recommend one enough to all my fellow C section mammas out there — It’s done wonders for me! There’s still some fluid buildup around my C area, but I’m sure that will all disappear in time. Slow and steady wins the race I always say :) #csection #csectionrecovery #postpartumbody #postpartum

4 weeks in and I’m now balancing mum-life with a couple of hours of work-life per day on my other babies @theycallheralfie and @sporteluxe. This is me post-partum C Section 28 days/ 4 weeks! I’m pretty much back to normal. My C section still has a little bit of pain, but at least I’m off the pain medications . What did really hurt and has also just stopped was my whole bump area. So glad as I couldn’t even rub moisturiser on it it hurt that much, like it was bruised or something — maybe from the doctors pushing the placenta out? Also, I’ve just started wearing a belly band (abdominal binder) to help support my muscles and posture and any excess swelling I have — it’s been working wonders for me. I’m also walking normally, getting in and out of bed is fine and most importantly I’m getting SLEEP at night— well as much as I can . Oliver is sleeping consistently 4 hour stretches at night which has definitely helped in my recovery. Even though it’s been one of the most challenging experiences I’ve had to endure, it’s become a painless memory. The LOVE I have for Oliver is unlike anything else I’ve ever felt before — the mother-child bond I cannot describe, its just magical and the most rewarding experience ever. Getting my butt moving outside with some light exercise in the sun while Oliver sleeps in the stroller. I’m finally getting those happy feelings back again (baby blues really got me down, I was so flat ) thanks to a couple of hours more of sleep per night and my afternoon neighbourhood strolls — I swear SUN and afternoon strolls has helped me so much! Still can’t wear tight activewear around my C section incision cause it’s still healing and tender, so I’ve been living in these super soft high waisted @aloyoga pants and lots of milk drenched flowy dresses . BTW some of you have been asking how @sportethefrenchie (my dog) is going with Oliver now part of the family. Well ummmm, he’s ok, just peeing everywhere 🤬. I think I need to pay him more attention! This is my body 2 weeks post-partum C section. And below are a few things that have gotten me through the last two weeks after my C section (don’t read if you get squirmish) - @earthmamaorganics nipple balm. Mine were so raw and bled for a week, so this was a life saver for when Oliver was learning to breastfeed. I hear babies have the sucking power of 4 adults put together and I now totally believe this after trying to pull him off my boob 🥺 - A post-partum pack from @sunflowermotherhood. Weird at first, but then when I got home from hospital and realised why those products were in it, it was - A @modibodi maternity singlet, cause it catches my milk when I leak at night 🤭 - Those very attractive high waisted hospital mesh underwear. Don’t knock em till you try them , trust me I took as many complimentary disposable ones as I could from the hospital — they’ve been my lifesaver - I stocked up on the granniest pads I could find. Holy, moly, every time I sat up it was like Niagra Falls, but with blood - An upside down post-partum peri bottle as bending over on the is quite painful, so this is super handy to help sprinkle (down there ) - Pain medications, I took mine on the dot so I was never ‘chasing’ the pain. I forgot a couple of times in the middle of the night and woke up to excruciating pain — not cool. - A nice fluffy thick towel to sleep on when I go to bed, cause those hormonal night sweats are ridiculous - A Post partum meal delivery service for a month cause cooking has been the last thing on my mind. I swear by @twenty_five_eight For their hormone balancing and healing foods! - Heat pads, I felt like I was still getting back Labour for 5 days after the C section. Ok, now that I’ve come up for some air from newborn life, I now need some nappy/ diaper bag recommendations from YOU ALL pleaseeeeeee! 🤨.
