Today I got to celebrate another birthday. I keep meditating on the legacy I follow and the elders from where I came. I promise you to keep striving to live up to you giants!

It is in the company of those that we are safest with that our inner light can shine brightest. Thank you all who provide that for me. May this year allow us all to find those people and for all of our lights to shine brighter. This is the light I want to celebrate this Diwali. And my wish for you all. Happy Diwali.

This post is a specifically for my Desi community. Too often there is anti-blackness/anti-otherness within our community. While we are focusing on the white part of the white supremacy supremacy. I need to take a moment for us to remember our role. We are complicit unless we address and act against it. And as a reminder! Two years ago after the most surreal (in the best way) and perfect court wedding. I rode away in style with my partner @varshaharlalka in the best vehicle in the world: a Bombay Auto :) and we started our greatest adventure so far: marriage. That would be enough of a reason to celebrate but this day takes on added significance because Nani had a stroke shortly after and this became the wedding she saw. At least she got to see the beginning! I love you my boo. happy 2 years :)

My thoughts are with your family through this difficult time.

And it’s been tragic as the failure of those systems have affected millions so adversely. But one possible silver lining is that it creates an opportunity for us to build something new.
