Cold days out West. Working with @CanonUSA to put the EOS 1DX Mark II through the paces while shooting a Fjallräven story a few months back. These kind of projects are my favorite because of how demanding they are; freezing temps and on the move from sunrise to sunset with an awesome crew. #CoCreateWithCanon

Happy to be helping @polarpro launch their new Summit Series Filters.. Took them on an early fall field trip in the mountains around home to see what the fuss was all about. Even made a film for them about what it means to be an adventure photographer. Link in profile If you’re curious, I’ve never spent so much time writing and re-writing a film

We came to South Greenland in part to sail among Icebergs. This is one of the most remarkable ones we saw on our trip. For a moment we thought about driving the boat through the arch to get a closer look at it but the captain quickly deterred us from it from fears of it collapsing on us.. What a beast

The Greenland ice sheet. This is a panorama of 12 horizontal photos, just to give you a sense of the scale of this place. Just a few years ago, the ice fell into the water but in you can see that it is retracting over the rock now and will continue to do until its no longer visible from the sea. Powerful seeing our changing climate first hand..

Finally got around editing one of my favourite photos from the Greenland trip. This is Sebastien, our rad skipper from France on the @auroraarktika, taking the crew back to the boat..

A place to breathe. A place to swim. A place to fish. A place to lie in the sun... What I love about the outside is that everyone choses what to do in it, and doing nothing at all is also an option. #EOS3

Walking back to camp through the endless larch forest. Always neat spending time with people whose idea of a camping trip is waking up before sunrise to go somewhere high to watch the sun go up..

A few nights ago from the summit of Lincoln Peak. The temps were in the single digits, a cold breeze from the north east was blowing as we waited for sunset. No luck. A band of clouds to the west was blocking the sun. Pretty typical this time of the year out here. We packed up and as we turned around to head down we got treated to this ball of fire...

In the shadow of Great Northern. Never thought I’d be able to witness this a few minutes from the house..

Andrea coming back from the far end of the lake after an awesome afternoon on the water. This was one of the last days we could paddle this season without wearing puffy jackets and gloves. I’m sure I’ll be coming back to these fall photos for a little warmth this winter ..

Along the roads of Ireland, under a metallic sky, feeling good about seeing a new country for the first time. Dark days like this are probably not everyone’s definition of a dreamy holiday but part of me was really content to see Ireland like this. That’s how I’ve always pictured it in my head.

A windy run on Achill Island. One of the greatest powers of photography is its ability to tell stories. A few images can convey how a moment felt: From the weather and geography, to the emotions of our subjects. @finn and I made a 4 hour long workshop, with thousands of students, about how to tell stories with photography— it’s called The Ultimate Photo Storytelling Workshop and it’s on sale today. Its happening.. The larches are glowing and that always acts as a powerful reminder of how thankful I am for October.

Working with @canonusa to document the changing seasons in Montana. Usually when fall comes I'm chasing things that I can't do when winter comes. Riding our old dirt bikes is certainly one of them. @isaacsjohnston and I went out for a Sunday ride and I thought I'd only use the EOS 5D Mark IV + EF 70-200 f/2.8L III USM telephoto lens. I rarely use that focal length to photograph people outside because I think it disconnects me from my subjects but for action it worked out great. The compression on the mountains and the depth of field isolating the rider from the busy background are key in this set.

Made a new film for the walkers, hikers, and trekkers. We set off with the ambitious goals to do 150 miles in 10 days and to dive into why as humans we’re wired to walk. Watch on YouTube, link in bio

No trip to France is complete without an overnight at the Lac Blanc.. We arrived completely soaked the night before to be treated to hot tea & pie from the hut cooks — French mountain hospitality.

Earlier this summer, walking over the fog, heading a small stone hut for the night.. Reconnecting with the simpler things often looks like this.

The hills where I grew up. Working on a series with @canonusa's to document my home country with the EOS R. This landscape is not the most epic or dramatic, it isnt really famous either but what makes it special is the memories attached to it. Roaming this country as a teenager looking for a purpose I would walk up to the highest hill I'd find and wait for nightfall to walk down. I loved the thrill of walking down in the dark without a headlamp. I just felt alive.. Hopefully this encourages you to not only seek adventure thousands of miles away from home like I did. It's only with the perspective that I realize how lucky I was to grow up here. Shot on the EOS R + Canon EF 24mm f/1.4L II

The North West face of the Mont-Blanc Massif. While shooting new work for @canonusa's EOS R this September, I posted up in the mist waiting for an opening on the range. This is as good as it got. At first I was bummed that I didnt get to see the mountain tops but this image has grown on me, the compression of the EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM lens flattens the landscape and it becomes textures. Happy I lugged the zoom all the way up here!

Cold — I’ve been thinking about the themes recurrent in my photographs and I think cold is often an ingredient. Along with wind and generally crap weather. I often give credit to Canon and Arctery’x for helping me get my work done under these conditions but I’ve never given it to other bits of under-looked but essential gear like memory cards & hard drives. So this is it: I’m joining @lexarmemory Ambassador Team to shed some light on these small pieces of plastic and circuits that have kept me out shooting for the last 5 years. Pumped! #ShotOnLexar #LexarAmbassador

Easily my favorite evening of the whole Slovenia trip. This is Bivak 2, a reinterpretation of a 1936 shelter that was brought up here by heli after the original one was in too bad of a shape. The new shelter had to withstand winds of up to 200 km/h, weigh less than 1.3 tons, have the same foot print as the original, and built in a new way that requires no maintenance. Always nice to spend the night in one of these, it’s like a reset for the mind..

Late summer alpenglow during another headlamp descent back to the pass. The air gets warmer with every step, our knees are wondering why do we keep doing that to them, and the mind is tranquille. Not many thoughts after sunset, just one step in front of the other that’s the clarity of mind that waking brings..

Home for the night in the Seven Lakes Valley.. We gulped down our macaroni dinner at the refuge, ran to a lake for sunset and ran back to the refuge just in time for blue hour. I’m going to be missing the hectic pacing of summer, were the sun sets late so you can experience a lot in one day. @feelslovenia

This trip to Slovenia has been the best one yet.. We walked many km on the Juliana Trail, climbed, Swam, ate delicious food and filmed footage we could only dream of. Are foot are a bit tender from all the walking, we’re tired but feeling very fulfilled— love this high after a trip @feelslovenia @markpetek @tucker.macdonald @c__nic @iztok_medja

Over a sea of clouds. New work shot for @canonusa in the Slovenian mountains with the EOS R and the 16-35mm f2.8L II USM — my go-to kit for when weight matters. I used to bring the 24mm 1.4 on these but found that I can push the ISO high enough that 2.8 suffices. It’s not a common thing to experience sunsets from high places and it comes with a few trade offs, the big one is having to get down in the dark. But the light we get to see and the fact that no-one is left on the mountain makes us quickly forget about the descent.. still pinching myself over this sunset

The North Wall of Mount Triglav. I had heard about a small alpine shelter called Bivak 2 that was directly facing the tallest mountain in Slovenia..Finally on my 4th trip here I was able to watch the sun go down over this beast of a mountain.. @feelslovenia

About tonight.. Dream-like conditions continue in @feelslovenia as the warm valleys end the day in the mist and the alpine stays above it — sound on for a little bit of peace . Music by @ouri.riou
