In Italy I ate my first slice of lemon (including pith & waxy skin) with a drizzle of home made chestnut honey - this may sound weird, but it is DELICIOUS! The lemons here are unlike any I've ever tried - sweet yet sour & bursting with delicious citrus flavour. The skin is soft & not at all bitter. Combined with the honey of the Amalfi bees, it's the most refreshing & nutritious snack including a good dose of vitamin C, citric acid, flavonoids, calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, phosphorus & potassium @monasterosantarosa #healthysnack #amalficoast #amalfi #monasterosantarosa

‍♀️ #AirportHack - How do you stay healthy whilst travelling? It's easy to slip into 'holiday indulgence mode’ before even reaching your destination, and it’s not unusual to have eaten your body weight in temptations whilst waiting out a delay! Being marooned aimlessly in an airport – bored, hungry, tired & emotional – is no fun, & the odds seem impossibly stacked against you to stay healthy. It’s often the case of grabbing a quick bagel, bag of crisps & a soda. Junk foods, like air, can be found anywhere, anytime. ! SOLUTION: Instead 1. STOCK UP: Make sure to have a nutritious, sustaining breakfast/lunch/dinner before you even leave the house. 2. DRINK UP: Stay hydrated. Recirculated air-conditioned airplane air is draining, & when you’re already dehydrated you’ll feel even hungrier as your body recognises that it needs *something*! 3. PLAN AHEAD: Bring your own snacks – you control the  content – think nuts, seeds, fruit, water – at least until you get to your detstination and can enjoy a proper meal! 4. GO GREEN: Salads with some protein are a totally fair option if available, but be sure to check fat/salt content of things like the dressing – often a hidden calorie bomb! 5. SIZE MANAGEMENT: Watch your portions – nibbling little & often is better for the body’s natural metabolic pace. 6. MEET THE CHALLENGE: Being a bit hungry isn’t the end of the world and won’t kill you. Many swear that it raises mental alertness as you head into ‘forraging’ mode! 7. SLEEP IT OFF: Low in blood sugar? Feeling tired? Zzzz… far better than scoffing a packet of crisps and chocolate bar for the sake of it! 8. Stay active at the airport! Here a bit of fun a one leg deadlift but I've also seen yogis bang out a good hour on a mat right in the airport! Whilst it's Easter how about swapping he chocolate for some real eggs? Here I popped some spinach and chilli in my omelette. Topped off with some pine nuts, avocado, artichokes & left over baby potatoes with dill (a bit of a Swedish flourish!). Eggs are a great source of protein, here complemented by other plant sources - boxes, ticked! The baby potato is also low-GI & super filling #fitin3 #fitnessontoast #healthylunch

Handstands can supposedly reverses the flow of gravity, increasing blood flow to the brain, & is thought to promote more effective concentration & mental focus, through seeing the world upside down. Regardless of your belief in this, there are a set of demonstrable benefits, here are just a few: 1) Core strength: it requires some serious core strength to hoist the legs right up. It will target your back & abdominal muscles. 2) Balance: Aside from the superficial muscles it’ll switch on the deeper stabilising muscles as well honing in on your balance skills. 3) Breathing - This upside down pose is said, through encouraging deep breathing, to help with more efficient oxygen-to-blood exchange & stronger  more capacious lungs. 4) Arm strength: holding the pose is often harder & more fatiguing than lifting heavy weights. This pose will tone your arms, forearms as well as shoulders, in order to keep you upright a release some to the pressure off of your head & neck. Bread & butter training - sometimes the best training. Classic exercises which have been around for donkey years but work! Lobster o’clock! It’s fairly low in both fat & calories but a great source of protein. It's also a great source of zinc, copper, selenium & vitamin B-12, as well as a decent source of ‘yum’.
