My little Frenchie took me for a walk today. Some days I don't have a single ounce of energy to walk, and some days I feel as though I could run a marathon (let's be honest, with this bump and my sausage feet probably only 300 meters up the road HAHA). I feel like my dog knows when I need to stand up and get some exercise. Since becoming pregnant he's become more vocal and intuitive with me, and VERY CUDDLY. He'll often sit at the front door hinting to me that we need to go for a walk, or if I'm sitting at my desk struggling with my legs and the fluid pressure, he'll sit at my feet and bark at me till we go outside. Now, this has been happening ever since I reached the 20th-week mark. Maybe he senses what's going on in my body, who knows, all I know is that he's like my little personal fitness assistant and I'm totally loving it ATM. Ok so you’ve been asking how I create the wave in my hair around my face. I have this technique I’ve been using for years cause I have an awkward cowlick right at the top of my forehead . It’s so annoying! Anyway, this is how I do it. 1. After I shampoo, condition and towel dry, I spray my hair with a thickening mist (@mauimoistureau blow out mist), then gently comb it through. 2. I throw my head upside down and blow dry my hair so that it’s mostly dry. This also creates volume at my roots. I strongly recommend a great hairdryer that doesn’t burn your hair. I use Parlux and swear by them. 3. I then part my hair into thirds securing with a clip on the top of my head and start blowdrying the bottom section first with a roller brush. Once done, I move onto the midsection of my hair and repeat blowdrying. Then I move onto the crown section and blow dry backward, leaving behind my front fringe area. 4. I then blow dry my fringe area FORWARD over my eyes so my hair falls nicely around the shape of my face. 5. Then I blast with cold air which sets my hair and brings out the shine. 6. I then tuck my hair behind my ears and tada — this creates that wave around my face that everyone asks about . Also, my hair is slightly dry at the ends which makes the wave more noticeable as it becomes light and bouncy. PS - @mauimoistureau have a fantastic hair care range for all types of hair. I've just turned 38 and never thought I'd be able to fall pregnant. My doctors told me that my chances of conceiving would be extremely difficult because 1, I have a polyp on my uterus and secondly, the fact that I was over 37 years old when I was trying to fall pregnant. If you aren't aware, Uterine polyps sometimes cause problems with fertility and can increase the risk of miscarriage. As well as being over 35 seems to be the point where fertility declines and chances of conceiving are a lot harder. I'm so grateful that I was given the opportunity to know what motherhood feels like, but I also planned on being content with whatever happened. I don't know what I specifically did to fall pregnant, but I do know for a fact that in my day-to-day life I always aim to keep my stress to an absolute minimum and block out any negative thoughts that come my way. It's hard at first, but practicing it on a daily basis became the norm for me. Also in life, I'm a very big believer in that everything happens for a reason. There's been plenty of times where I've been treated like shit, something hasn't gone my way no matter how hard I've tried, I've failed over and over again and times where I've thought about throwing it all in. But then I remember how strong us women are and what we're capable of. I'M STRONG ENOUGH TO LET GO, AND WISE ENOUGH TO WAIT FOR WHAT I DESERVE. Being content is a huge factor in my life. I always try to see the positive in e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g. I don't know where this caption is going and if I’m just babbling on, but I'm feeling extra emotional today LOL. PREGNANCY STRETCH MARKS So research says that it's common to get beauty marks anywhere from 13-21 weeks. I'm 27 weeks and haven't seen any as yet — I don't want to speak too soon. But, there are a few things that I do to help prevent them and it's been a part of my daily routine since day dot. The only change I've made are the products. So for starters, I've moved from a moisturizer to a heavy duty body butter and oil. My SKINCARE ROUTINE is very strict. Every morning and night after my shower I mix together a cocoa skin repairing body butter and pregnancy oil then massage over my bump, my lower back, my bottom and all the way down to my knees. I even do my breasts, chest area and neck. AND, when I massage in, I don't just wipe on, I take a good 5 mins to massage deeply into my skin. Secondly, my DIET already consists of a lot of VIT C foods. Research says that VIT C rich foods help to keep the skin toned. I squeeze fresh lemon into my water daily, I eat lots of fruits and drink bucket loads of orange juice And lastly, I don't eat for two (I struggle to eat 5 small meals a day anyway with baby Chalmers taking up the majority of my belly space). My digestion has been slow since becoming pregnant (the bodies way of extracting the nutrients from the food I eat to deliver to baby Chalmers), so healthy snacking has been my go-to for food. #27weekspregnant #6monthspregnant #healthypregnancy #fitpregnancy #stretchmarks #pregnant #pregnantbelly

I'm nervous and scared about birth With only 13 weeks to go, I haven't been able to stop thinking about the discomfort and pain that I'll be going through. I want to be as relaxed as possible for the birth. But also knowing my mum (who can't travel for 3 months) and twin sister won't be able to make it over till after baby Chalmers is born makes me even more stressed and upset. How to deal???? So I've been channeling my yoga and everything I learned from it. Not just the poses, but how to deal with discomfort and emotions. I remembered that in my yoga practice, as soon as I began to feel uncomfortable, I’d always want to come out of the pose because it was too hard. Perception says we’re not supposed to feel pain or discomfort and we rush to make it all better. Don't get me wrong, there is a line between the two and I know how to distinguish both. BUT, just as I practice yoga, BREATHE THROUGH THE UNCOMFORTABLE, and find space in my body, I’m also finding healing and contentment. For the birth, I know it's going to be tough (and painful ), but the best thing I can do now is to embrace the unexpected, get in the zone, and learn to breathe through the discomfort and pain I'm going to be feeling. It’s all about finding comfort in the uncomfortable and it will be the greatest thing I can ever to do to help me better stay in the moment of welcoming Baby Chalmers into our lives. REVIEW: Best Maternity Activewear Leggings ️ ... Ok, so I’ve been testing quite a few brands the past two weeks and three brands have won my bump. Today I’ll talk about my favourite so far, which is @nimbleactivewear. Even though they aren’t officially classified in the maternity category, I’d say they suit both superbly ️ ... I feel I could wear these leggings in the picture to FULL TERM. They’re super comfortable and VERY FLEXIBLE around my bump. I love the wide waist band, they don’t dig in or give me muffin top and very flattering. The material is very fine, so I’d only wear them for the warmer seasons as I feel the cold a lot. And best part, they’re cropped, so fit me to a T. I’m wearing a size medium and I’m 5”6. ... As for the other two brands, I’ll introduce them next week. 25 WEEKS BUMP UPDATE: Oh I love how bubba goes to sleep when I sleep and then wakes up when I wake up with with somersaults and karate chops galore. This has been my FAVORITE pregnancy accessory ever! Ok, so I'm going to babble on a bit here as I can't stop raving about the Apple watch's NEW health features. This isn’t an ad, I just purely want to share with all of you what has been working wonders for me. As some of you mammas out there know, being pregnant for me came with adjusting my daily routine to keep baby happy and safe. The main points were to be as stress-free as possible, keeping my heart rate below 141 bpm and keeping up my gentle active life. My heart rate has definitely increased from when I was pre-preggy, which doctor assures me is all normal. Intuitively I know what I’m doing, but it’s also great to have a backup guardian. The Apple Watch Series 4 — she’s literally like my health guardian, manages my everyday stress and heart rate, reads my heart's electrical signals with her new ECG app (this new feature is MIND BLOWING), meaning she can tell if my heart is showing any signs of irregular heart rhythm — or sinus rhythm, detects if I have a heart irregularity, monitors my sleep, and senses when I'm stressed which she then takes me through a short breathing exercise to recover. AND, my FAVOURITE feature is when she reminds me when to stand up from my desk so my blood circulation gets flowing — meaning less puffy ankles. My 25 weeks pregnant active routine ... Pre-bump, my workouts always consisted of challenging sweaty vinyasa workouts. My aim was to always be muscle sore the next day, that way I knew I had done a great workout. But now that I'm 25 weeks pregnant, I've taken a step right back from my hardcore yoga practices. The first trimester I didn't even workout! I was so into listening to my body and what it needed — which was sleep 16 hours a day and lay horizontal for the most part of the waking day. Then 19 weeks hit, and all my energy came back! I attempted to practice a few sessions of my own sweaty Vinyasa yoga practices, but it didn't feel right. Bending forward and chaturangas became so hard! Then a few weeks later the puffy ankles emerged. So that's when I knew I had to change my fitness routine — HIKING and WALKING! By going for my 1 hour afternoon hikes and walking my dog first thing in the morning I've been increasing my blood circulation whilst helping to flush away those ankle fluids — and it’s been working I've also read so much that exercise is part of a healthy pregnancy, and whilst I'm really focussed on being the best version of myself whilst pregnant, I just want Baby Chalmers to be healthy and happy. Happy mum, happy baby! Benefits of exercise during pregnancy: * Reduces my risk of preeclampsia * Lowers my chance of needing a C section * Help me to lose weight faster postbaby * Improves my stamina for labor (they say labour and giving birth is the equivalent of running a marathon with the energy exertion) * Shortens labor * Reduce the risks of gestational diabetes * Reduces pregnancy Edema which is swelling of the ankles and what I have been getting. BEST POSE FOR PREGNANCY! Ok, so I’ve had a lot of DM’s about the best yoga poses for pregnancy aches and pains. Just remember our muscles and ligaments are loosening up and lengthening, and sometimes that aches (I’ve been complaining a lot about this so I know the pain). There are a few amazing poses that can help, but my all-time favourite that works for me is the Pigeon Pose. It’s like the powerhouse pose for us pregnant women who are looking for an all-in-one stretch. This pose loosens tension in our hips and lower back whilst strengthens our thighs, groin, psoas, abdomen, chest, shoulders and neck. At night I like to unroll my mat in front of the TV and just sit in this pose, alternating sides. Sometimes I’m super tight and other days I’m highly flexible, so always have a block to place underneath to support. Also, it’s really important we listen to our bodies, if something is too intense or causing too much pain, it’s best to modify and take it easy. I’m so PROUD of how my body has responded to pregnancy. Taking care of myself has been my no.1 priority to date and it’s all been paying off . I’ve been constantly listening to my body, have changed my active lifestyle to suit, nourished my body from the inside out and outside in, constantly reading pregnancy apps to learn, and reducing as much stress in my life as possible. I’m loving the whole pregnancy journey. So, is it safe for me to take a bath while #pregnant? Last night I ran a warm bath, added in a cup of #epsomsalts as suggested by you all, lit a few candles and just lay in there floating for 20 minutes. It was actually the most calming experience ever, so thank you! ATM, I'm just about to hit #25weekspregnant, and every day is strenuous on my body. From leg and foot swelling to aching backs and hips. I've forever got my legs up the wall, to elevating my feet on the lounge and even giving my feet their own pillow at night so the swelling can subside. I just want my body to stop aching! So, is it safe to take a bath since saunas and hot tubs seem to be a no-no? I did do some research and found out that baths are safe and super-relaxing when I’m #pregnant. However, the bath water temp should be WARM and not hot. "Pregnant women shouldn't let their core body temperature get higher than 102.2°F/ 39°C since there may be a greater risk for the baby to be born with brain and spinal cord defects" states The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG). They say, to be extra-safe, make sure the bath stays below 100°F/ 37.7°C. Also, as we all know, we need to AVOID hot tubs, jacuzzis and saunas. My NIVEA TV Commercial is finally on TV! Thank you @nivea_anz This was filmed in Milan, Italy and has been one of my favorite photo shoots of all time. The shoot was, in fact, a #reallifechallenge, so nothing was staged. I was demonstrating how the #niveaeverydayactive kept me dry all day long as I learned to Tango (even though I just didn’t get it), cook #pizza with the best pizza chefs in town (@simone_mantu11, and @ciccio.filippelli) and practiced yoga. Wow, I’ve never had so many DM’s about my haircare routine! So, as promised here they are I wash my hair every 4th day and I give myself a head massage once per week At the moment as I’m pregnant I’ve only been using shampoo + conditioner that is free from parabens, sulfates, mineral oils, and dyes. #ad @HairFood is a brand inspired by the kitchen and superfoods to nourish your hair, with amazing free-of collections. They believe what you put in your hair is just as important as what you eat ATM I’m using (and loving) the Kiwi & Turkish Fig @hairfood collection. Smells delish, highly recommend I either leave in a deep conditioner or hair mask (whichever one I am using at the time) in my hair once per week, then braid it, leave overnight and wash out in the morning I brush my hair and scalp once per day in the morning. This gets my oils through the hair For a casual look that goes semi-wavy, I dry my hair upside with a dryer, then flip over, blow dry the ends under, and then blow dry the hair on my crown so it frames my face. This takes like 5 mins and is my go-to everyday style For a beautiful styled look, I’ll do the full blow dry parting my hair in sections as I go. This takes me about 20 mins and is time-consuming as I have so much hair! Sometimes I sleep with a silk pillowcase. My hair loves it, especially in summer as it tames my frizz I take collagen daily! Yep, this was how young I was when I first started yoga! I never believed in the practice—running and light weight training were my go-to’s for fitness. But it wasn’t until I went through a very tough part of my life that my best friend @activeyogi begged me to try one of her Saturday yoga classes. Thinking I’d be bored throughout the whole practice was a mistake — I’d never sweated so much in my life during a class! I walked out feeling on top of the world beaming with life, energy and confidence. And it was that very class that got me hooked! What are the right clothes to wear during pregnancy? I’ve got 3.5 months to go and I’m not going to lie—I don’t really want to be spending $$ on outfits I’ll probably never wear again. When I did fall pregnant I thought that I would have to buy a whole new wardrobe of moo moo dresses. BUT to save on money, I’ve been mixing and matching what I have in my current wardrobe, and usually the best looks I’ve been liking are from items that enhance my voluptuous figure and my baby bump, and stuck at the back of my wardrobe (that I haven’t worn in years) . For now, getting creative with my old stretchy and flowy clothes has been my best idea to date in saving money! . So where does all this PREGNANCY WEIGHT go that I’ve gained According to The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, they recommend gaining 25 to 35 pounds (11.3 to 13.6kg) during pregnancy. So far I’ve gained 9 kgs, and happy to know that it’s gone to the below (psst, and some to my thighs and bum). ️1.5 pounds: the placenta ️7 pounds: maternal stores of fat, protein, and other nutrients ️7.5 pounds: your average full-term baby ️2 pounds: breast tissue ️4 pounds: increased fluid volume ️4 pounds: increased blood volume ️2 pounds: the uterus ️2 pounds: amniotic fluid Total = 30 pounds/ 13.6 kilograms So next time your doctor pops you on those scales, know that all that weight is helping creating that mini human being inside our bump. // #pregnant #22weekspregnant #22weeks #weightgain #pregnancy #secondtrimester #5monthspregnant

What a CRAZY week—from the results of my Anatomy scan, to my bump literally growing to what look liked 50% in a week! I’ve gone up to a size MEDIUM (originally was an XS-S) in just about e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g. It’s amazing how the body changes and prepares for the arrival of this mini human being. P.S ladies, still haven’t found any stylish and supportive maternal pieces just yet (still on the lookout).
